After invading Ukraine on February 24th, Russian troops took up positions on the outskirts of the Ukrainian capital Kyiv. Facing fierce resistance, and after taking heavy losses, Russian forces have since withdrawn from a number of villages they occupied including Dmytrivka, in Bucha district. Burnt out Russian tanks and armored vehicles and civilian bodies strewn along streets and roads are testimony to ferocity of the battles in these areas.
